Mittens was homeless since his family moved away years ago and left him. He had been living by the kindness of neighbors but lost multiple battles with the local feral cats. Mittens was brought to 13th St Cat Rescue because he deserved a better life.

Mittens’ regal demeanor and handsome appearance, along with his complex history from a long stint on the streets and the juxtaposition of alternating cute and grumpy mannerisms make him a complex character with undeniable charm. Although it may take some time for him to warm up to you, once he does, his tenacious loyalty will make him an irreplaceable presence in your life.

Mittens mostly enjoys basking in the sunlight and bird watching, but also loves playing with a string or wand toy. He also likes being the center of attention and will often force his way into the middle of a congregation of humans, just for the pleasure of feeling like a part of the group. Most importantly, Mittens likes to be petted on his terms not yours. In essence, he is a perfectly imperfect cat and a wonderful companion for the right person.

Mittens is FIV+ but that isn't an issue. See the link below for more information regarding FIV. Mittens enjoys the family life and since being neutered no longer has the drive to go wandering. We want him to stay inside away from harm but he enjoy time on an enclosed patio.

13thstcats.org is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, No-Kill Rescue Group based in San Jose.

We try our best to match our cats to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular cat
