About Pocky | |
|
|
Pocky was an outdoor cat we saw around August. We think someone abandoned him and two other cats on the road around that time because the neighbors noticed these three outdoor cats all at the same time (and outdoor cats don't survive long up here). He was incredibly afraid of people originally, but we put out a little heated outdoor house and eventually were able to make friends with him (with plans to capture him and get him to a vet to be treated).
One morning in December I woke up to see him outside having a seizure on our back deck. Because he wasn't able to run away, I got him into a cat carrier and took him to the vet. They were never really sure what happened, but the leading theory was that he poisoned by something (construction site nearby?). It's not clear what that might have been as the symptoms didn't entirely line up. At any rate, MedVet Campbell was fortunately able to save his life.
He recovered quickly and we had him neutered, chipped, de-wormed, and treated for fleas. He has been indoors at our house since then, but one of our older larger cats (also male) is really antagonistic so we need to find him a new home. We've been keeping them separated, but it's stressful for everyone.
He is very much a sweet purring lap cat who really loves to be around people (he's kind of crazy underfoot all the time). He loves to climb on your lap and knead. I have the chipping registration paperwork and haven't filled it out because we thought we might be fostering him.
He was an outdoor only cat (see above). Right at the moment he is an indoor only cat. I suggest he would be happiest as an indoor/outdoor cat, obviously only in an area where his life would not be at risk!
If you are interested in adopting Pocky, please drop me a short note describing your other pets/situation. I have been advised to charge $75 to help cover costs.
Thanks!
