Jasper is one of these cool cats.  A gentle giant. He likes just to hang out and observe the world until you pull a laser pointer out-- then he runs around like a little kitten. He was rescued by San Martin animal control in February and came to us in March.
He does have an old injury to his right back leg and some arthritis in that joint
He also is FIV+
He could be taking some medication for his arthritis pain but he is awful with taking meds and does not eat the food if we put meds in there. He loves this little memory foam bed we gave him and he is also on a feeding schedule of 2x/day to help lose some weight to lighten the impact on those joints.

FIV-positive means that your cat has been infected by the virus, but if it is not showing signs it may be years, if ever before the cat develops the clinical signs referred to as Feline AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome of cats). Just being diagnosed with the FIV virus does not mean your cat has feline AIDS

The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds. Casual, non-aggressive contact does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections.

He is an ideal cat in that he can't jump up on furniture or climb over a fence!!

13thstcats.org is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, No-Kill Rescue Group based in San Jose.

We try our best to match our cats to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular cat
