About Tortino | |
|
|
Tortino is a quiet, mellow boy who suffers from "wobbly cat syndrome", a.k.a. cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). This means he has bad balance and falls down while walking. Poor guy – it's both heartbreaking and endearing. My mother is going into assisted living and can no longer take care of him. Tortino's housetrained, but unfortunately, he currently has no control over his peeing and pooping. This might be related to his CH, or it might be behavioral: his human daddy (my stepfather) died in early March, which is when the peeing began. He's not a jerk about it. It just happens.
Tortino is very easygoing, and his vet says he is otherwise healthy and low maintenance. He's got a good appetite and purrs when brushed or given treats. He's not a big fan of being picked up or put on your lap, but he won't attack you if you try. He's a peaceable sort. And he'd certainly be happy to keep you company on the couch.
Obviously the CH and the potty issues are deal breakers for most people, and we fear we will have to put him down because of that. But he's such a nice, innocent boy – if there's someone out there who can give him a safe new home, my mom and I would be so grateful! For what it's worth, Tortino has led an indoor/outdoor life, but he could be indoor-only if need be. He likes to go outside to sunbathe, but that's it. He's never been a hunter or a wanderer.
THIS animal listing is a COURTESY LISTING - not a 13th St Cat Rescue animal.
