We named him, Stormin’ Norman.  He started to come right up to our backyard patio door sometime around the beginning of the year & was in a regular routine around, late, March. He’d just stare right in our house, at the resident cats.  He started eating leftover food.  We just started feeding him on a regular basis like our own.

I trapped him in late, June.  We took him to the shelter to be altered & vax’d & chipped.  The shelter didn’t deem him adoptable, so they tipped his ear & told me he was ready to be picked up & released.

I know cats and I knew that he was adoptable.  I did not release him outdoors.  The day I trapped him was his last time to fend for himself.   I kept him inside.  Within, 3, weeks, I was able to pick him up & carry him around the house.  He loves being an indoor only housecat.

The first night I let him have access to the entire house, he jumped in bed & slept with me.  He enjoys sleeping with humans.  He has grown into an entertaining, affectionate, ornery boy.  He tries very hard to fit in with our resident cats, but as my husband says, “He’s late to the party.”  He is wanting a bestie, or two, to be bond with & have that cat-bond that they develop.

He jumps on my lap & climbs on my shoulder, then back on my lap looking me straight in the eyes & nose-nudges me.  He is quite grateful to be loved.  He is not a picky eater & loves his food.  He now has a gut on him & he looks very good.

He has a muscular build to him & feels solid.  He purrs consistently.  At first, he didn’t know what a toy was.  Now?  Everything is a toy, including your hands, so he is learning boundaries.  He absolutely  loves his wand toy.  I play with it when he is on the bed & it is hilarious watching him jump & do loop-te-loops in the bed.  Once in a while, he’ll catch a glimpse of himself in the dresser mirror as he is jumping & he just stops everything & looks at himself. It is beyond cute & funny. “Yes, Stormin’ Norman, that is you.  Aren’t you cute?”

I have put work into him, so he does favor women.  That said, he isn’t aggressive towards my husband.  He’ll climb on his lap when there are treats & food.  My husband doesn’t have any problem with him, he just hasn’t dedicated time into him.  I feel confident he’d be fine with guys, in time.  It just might take a little longer.

This boy needs another cat or, 2, to be with.  He’d make a great compliment & addition. Also, I think he’d be good with ornery kids & become pals with them as well.  Caution:  Watch his claws, though. I trimmed them once & he sailed through it.  For some reason, he flips out, now & I can’t trim them.  I also noticed this about him: DON’T SCRUFF HIM.

His behavior leads me to believe that he was mistreated.  We’ll never know but I think he might’ve been dumped or escaped & found his way to our hood’.
